Some mornings Umar would wake up complaining about Elsa “ She talked and talked and talked, Mummy. Kacau saja orang tidur… I cannot sleep !! ” Elsa would wear her guilty look and Mummy and Babah would laugh about it, thinking how cute of Elsa malam-malam ajak abang borak.
But things ceased to be cute on Saturday. We moved house and since we are still unsure of the security of that area, we had the kids sleeping with us.
Lights out and Elsa and started talking. “Ti !! Can you please be quiet ? I want to sleep …” Mummy and Babah smiled delightedly in the dark, thinking how privileged we were to finally live the experience.
Elsa ignored him and kept on talking. About Hakim who is her classmate and what she did with Esya that day and what nots. “ Ti !! Umar nak tidurlah !! ” Pleaded Umar again.
“But I cannot sleep !! I cannot sleep, Um !” Came the reply and the chatter went on.
Ntah apa-apa benda yang dia cerita but she talked and talked and talked until finally, “Ti ! Diam Ti ! Abah nak tidur …”
The room was silent. 5 minutes after that we heard her thrashing about on her mattress. Pulak.
Finally Dan invited her to sleep on the bed with us. She still can’t sleep and was thrashing about. Sekejap ke kiri sekejap ke kanan. Endless sighs and moans escaped her lips. We didn’t sleep either.
Teruk sungguh. Patut le kadang-kadang Umar susah bangun pagi.
